Peet 1849 First Edition Hardcover Good+ Red cloth with bright gill decorative urn on cover, gilt lettering on spine, gilt foredges on all edges; 252 pages, 6 plates; Inscribed in ink to "Rev. B. Tappan/with the kind regards/of/E. J. Peet/Sept. 1849"; ex-Bangor Theological Seminary; cloth of spine tearing at rear hinge, a piece missing, Title intact; reinforced with short piece of library tape; spine a little shaky; otherwise unmarked, clean, sound copy, internally very good. Peet, of course, was the publisher; Benjamin Tappan, Sr. , member of a distinguished Maine family, was a leader in the Congregational churches of Maine and his son, Benjamin Tappan, Jr. , was to become the minister of the Congregational church in Norridgewock in 1858.
